Building back stronger at MyActive Glossop

We're getting ready for repair work to start, bringing you an improved, more energising gym space to enjoy once we reopen.

We know it's taken much longer than anticipated to bring you an update that gives certainty on the way forward for MyActive Glossop following the partial closure due to structural issues that are affecting certain areas of the centre. We want to thank you for sticking with us.

We’re pleased to announce that from Monday, 4th August, essential structural improvements at MyActive Glossop will begin. These works will run for around eight weeks, starting with the upstairs gym, which will need to close fully whilst work is completed. All areas will re-open as soon as they are safe and ready. 

This upgrade is part of our commitment, in partnership with High Peak Borough Council, to get the centre back operational and make improvements which support local people to move more, feel better, and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.

What’s changing?

  • Structural repairs to affected areas in gym, studio and squash courts
  • Redecoration of these areas where required to give a refreshed look
  • An upgraded gym space with a brand-new range of cardio equipment and improved, modern decor

 

We’re working as hard as possible to keep as many facilities and services open whilst the improvements are underway.

To stay active, you can access:

  • Group exercise classes: Existing classes held at the centre or at Bradbury Community House and Glossop Methodist Church will continue until work in the studio is complete
  • Sports hall sessions: continues as usual
  • Ground floor gym: continues as usual
  • Use of MyActive Glossop Swim: continues as usual
  • Use of other facilities in High Peak

Options for our Members

We hope you can continue to support us for this final period whilst the improvement work takes place. The two options we’re offering during this time are below:

Option A
Your membership continues as usual, giving you access to all facilities that remain open.

Option B
You can freeze your membership at no charge whilst work is completed.
