The accreditation recognises organisations that meet high standards in how they operate, support their people, and deliver services for their communities.
For MyActive, the achievement reflects the collective effort of teams across all sites, and the organisation’s ongoing commitment to creating safe, inclusive and high-quality environments for customers.
Aidan Hall, Head of Contracts and Compliance at MyActive, said:
“I’m delighted our teams have been recognised for their hard work and commitment by being awarded The Active Standard.
“This has been a real team effort across MyActive, with colleagues coming together to embed best practice and demonstrate the standards we aim to deliver every day.”
MyActive manages and operates the leisure centres and swimming pools in Buxton, Glossop and New Mills in the High Peak and in Biddulph, Cheadle and Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands on behalf of the councils in those areas.
The teams at MyActive Biddulph, Buxton and New Mills played a key role in the external assessment process, supported by the organisation’s Health and Safety Leadership Group and colleagues across all sites.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader of High Peak Borough Council and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for MyActive and a real credit to the teams across our leisure centres. We’re incredibly proud of our council-owned wellbeing company and the high standards we set. It’s especially encouraging to see such strong commitments to safety, safeguarding and inclusivity, and to have that recognised by our industry peers is very welcome.”
Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, said:
“Congratulations to MyActive and the teams that deliver quality services for all our customers day in, day out. To have this external validation for our teams is not only great news for them, it means our customers can have full confidence in the services that we are delivering.”
The accreditation marks another step forward in MyActive’s journey to deliver active wellbeing services that support healthier, more connected communities since taking over operations in October 2024.
