Council investment plans announced for MyActive Cheadle

MyActive has supported Staffordshire Moorlands District Council in developing early proposals linked to the future redevelopment of MyActive Cheadle. A public engagement period will now take place to gather feedback before any final decisions are made.

At this stage, no confirmed decisions have been made regarding how future works may impact services. Once plans are agreed, we are committed to working closely with the Council to help keep Cheadle moving while improvements take place.

Exciting plans to invest in and improve MyActive Cheadle have been announced, with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council progressing proposals for a major redevelopment of the centre.

The proposed improvements form part of the Council’s wider commitment to enhancing leisure, health and wellbeing opportunities across the district, helping ensure local communities have access to modern, welcoming spaces that support people to move more and feel well.

Early proposals currently being developed include:

  • A brand-new fitness suite bringing together the two existing spaces
  • A new dedicated, immersive indoor cycling studio
  • A new, large additional group exercise studio
  • A new active wellbeing suite focused on supporting people just starting out, being referred for exercise by their GP or health professional, or who might be recovering from surgery or illness
  • Fully-refurbished wet-side changing facilities

The plans are currently progressing through the design stage, with public engagement expected to launch in the coming weeks, giving local people the opportunity to view proposals and help shape the future of the centre.

Rob Wilks, Managing Director of MyActive, said:

“We’re really pleased to see positive progress being made on plans to invest in MyActive Cheadle and create facilities that support the future health and wellbeing of the local community.

“Cheadle plays an important role within the community already, and these proposals represent an exciting opportunity to further improve the experience for existing customers while creating spaces that help even more people feel comfortable getting active in a way that works for them."

“We’ve been working closely with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council as proposals have developed and look forward to supporting the next stage of engagement with customers, colleagues, partners and the wider community.”

Further details, including images and engagement information, will be shared once available.

In the meantime, MyActive Cheadle continues to operate as normal, with customers able to enjoy the centre’s existing range of facilities, activities and services.
