Local woman’s journey back to health thanks to MyActive Cheadle

Just a few months ago, Annie found herself at one of the lowest points in her life. Once active and full of energy, she was living with constant pain and limited mobility after knee surgery. The swelling, lack of movement, and emotional toll were taking over, despite a year of physio and heavy reliance on pain medication.

But everything changed one Friday afternoon when she walked into MyActive Cheadle looking for help.

“I was desperate,” Annie recalls. “I hobbled in hoping someone might listen. I didn’t expect the kindness, support, and knowledge I received straight away.”

That chance conversation introduced Annie to the Steps to Health programme, a GP referral scheme run by MyActive and designed to support people dealing with long-term health conditions. A few weeks later, Annie returned to meet with health and wellbeing coach Tim, who worked with her to create a personalised training plan.

Now, six weeks into her programme, Annie’s life has taken a remarkable turn.

“I’m back in the gym three times a week, and even swimming when I can. The swelling in my knee has gone down, movement has returned, and the pain is massively reduced. I’ve come off all medication, and I’m finally sleeping through the night.”

The journey hasn’t just been physical; it’s emotional too.

“I’m truly grateful,” she says. “That one visit changed everything.”

The team at MyActive Cheadle are incredibly proud of Annie’s progress, and her story highlights exactly why they do what they do.

“This is what it's all about,” says Steve Weston, Centre Manager. “We’re here to help people reclaim their wellbeing, no matter where they’re starting from. Annie’s story is a reminder that with the right support and a positive mindset, real change is possible.”

MyActive Cheadle offers a range of programmes for people at all stages of their health journey. Whether you're managing a long-term condition, recovering from surgery, or simply want to feel better day to day, the team is here to help.
