Exciting plans to transform MyActive Cheadle have been unveiled. The redevelopment forms part of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's ongoing investment in leisure and wellbeing facilities and supports MyActive's ambition to create modern, welcoming and inclusive environments that help more people improve their lives through movement.

  • A new 70-station fitness suite with dedicated training zones. Creating more space, more choice and a better experience for everyone, whether you're taking your first steps into fitness or working towards personal goals.
  • A purpose-built active wellbeing suite supporting people who are new to exercise, recovering from illness or injury, or accessing activity through health referral programmes. Providing a welcoming environment where people can build confidence, improve their health and receive the right support to become more active at their own pace.
  • A dedicated indoor cycling studio with immersive virtual technology. Offering a more engaging and flexible cycling experience, with a wider choice of instructor-led and virtual classes throughout the day.
  • A larger group exercise studio to expand the range of classes available. Creating more opportunities for people to take part in group activities, helping more customers find classes that suit their interests, goals and lifestyles.
  • A fully refurbished four-court sports hall built to Sport England standards. Delivering a modern, high-quality space that better supports local clubs, schools, community groups and everyday sport and physical activity.
  • Modern wet and dry changing facilities, including a new Changing Places facility. Creating brighter, more comfortable and inclusive facilities that improve the experience for all customers and ensure more people can enjoy the centre with dignity and confidence.
  • Improved accessibility throughout the building with a new lift, staircase and enhanced customer journey. Making it easier for everyone to move around the centre, improving accessibility and creating a more welcoming experience from the moment people arrive.

The investment has been designed to create a centre that meets the changing needs of the local community, providing welcoming spaces where people of all ages and abilities can be active, connect with others and support their health and wellbeing.

Local residents, customers, clubs and community groups are being invited to help shape the next stage of the project by sharing their views through a public consultation.

Steve Weston, General Manager at MyActive Cheadle, said:

“This is a really exciting opportunity for both our customers and the wider community. Every day we see the positive difference being active can make to people's physical health, mental wellbeing and confidence, and these proposals will help us support even more people in ways that reflect their individual needs.

I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to share feedback that will help to shape a welcoming community space where people can move more, improve their wellbeing and feel part of something.”

Customers can view the proposals online, see display boards within the centre and complete a short survey to share their views before the consultation closes.
