We’re pleased to confirm that MyActive Cheadle will remain open for the rest of 2026 while Staffordshire Moorlands District Council takes some additional time to review plans for the major refurbishment of the centre.

For our customers, the important message is simple: we’re open and it’s business as usual.

You can continue to use MyActive Cheadle, attend your usual activities and book sessions right through to the end of December.

Looking ahead to an improved MyActive Cheadle

Earlier this year, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council shared proposals for a significant investment in MyActive Cheadle and invited the local community to have their say. Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their views.

Plans currently include:

  • A new fitness suite
  • A new immersive indoor cycling studio
  • A large additional group exercise studio
  • A fully refurbished four-court sports hall
  • A new Active Wellbeing Suite
  • Fully refurbished wet and dry changing facilities

The Active Wellbeing Suite is an important part of the proposals and reflects our wider ambition at MyActive to improve lives through movement. It would provide a welcoming space to support people who may be new to exercise, living with a health condition, recovering from illness or surgery, or accessing activity through a referral programme.

Following the public engagement exercise, the Council is taking some additional time to reflect on the feedback received and review the plans before deciding how best to proceed.

A Leisure Working Group, chaired by Cheadle councillor Ian Plant, is overseeing the plans, with the Council’s Cabinet due to consider the next steps at its December meeting.

Keep moving with us

While that work continues behind the scenes, our team at MyActive Cheadle will be here to keep you moving.

We’ll continue to offer our usual programme of activities and give our customers the warm welcome they know and expect.

We’re also planning some special offers to take us through to the end of the year, so keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more details.

We know people will naturally have questions about when refurbishment work will begin and what this could mean for their activities. As soon as the next steps and future closure arrangements are confirmed, we’ll share clear information with customers and our wider community.

For now, we look forward to welcoming you to MyActive Cheadle throughout the rest of 2026.
