MyActive Leek set to open this August following major redevelopment

MyActive Leek is preparing to open its doors this August, marking a significant milestone for the Staffordshire Moorlands community and the next chapter in the transformation of leisure services across the district.

Following a major redevelopment, the centre has been reimagined as a modern, welcoming and inclusive space designed to support people of all ages and abilities to move more, improve their wellbeing and connect with others.

We're now entering the final stages of this project, with testing and commissioning underway across the building. Subject to this final phase progressing as planned, we're looking forward to welcoming the community back through the doors mid to late August. We will be in a position to confirm the date once this period of work has been completed.

Ahead of opening, MyActive will launch a pre-sale programme, offering local people access to memberships, swimming lesson enrolment and information about the exciting range of activities, facilities and wellbeing services available at the new centre.

More details, including membership packages, swimming lesson enrolment dates and opening information, will be revealed over the coming weeks through the MyActive website, social media channels and email updates for those who have already registered their interest.

Adam Cope, General Manager at MyActive Leek said:

"After seeing the site develop over the past few months, now more than ever I am looking forward to the people of Leek being able to use such a wonderful facility.

The team is starting to take shape and we're preparing for opening day. We want MyActive Leek to become a real centrepiece of the community, somewhere people feel welcome, supported and inspired to be active in whatever way works for them.”

The new centre will feature:

  • A six lane 25m main pool with accessible entry points
  • A learner pool for lessons, classes and casual use
  • A state of the art fitness suite
  • A 20 bike immersive group cycling studio
  • Modern changing areas serving the pools
  • A fully inclusive ‘changing places’ facility for people with additional needs or disabilities
  • An improved café and reception area to relax and socialise
  • A community wellness suite for beginners, post injury rehabilitation or GP referrals
  • A new soft play area for children to learn, play and have fun

As opening day approaches, MyActive will be sharing sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes updates along with a programme of opening activities and opportunities to explore the new facilities.
